Chapter 1 · Sleep Management

Sleep It's never just about being asleep.

Every difficulty in falling asleep, waking up during the night, or feeling tired after waking up may be related to lifestyle, physical condition, and sleep environment. Understanding sleep begins with understanding your true state.

Starting to understand my sleep
SLEEP STATE · MOVE TO EXPLORE
I fall asleep, but I keep waking up repeatedly at night. Repeated sleep interruptions can lead to insufficient deep rest. The timing and frequency of nighttime awakenings, as well as the process of falling back asleep, all warrant further investigation.
I got enough sleep, but I didn't feel truly refreshed when I woke up. The duration of sleep does not equate to whether it is sufficient. Sleep continuity, breathing status, lifestyle rhythms, and other physical factors can all affect the sense of recovery the next day.
Real sleep problems can also occur during the day. Feeling tired easily during the day, having low concentration, lack of energy, or needing to catch up on sleep frequently may all be signs that your nighttime sleep has not been adequately restored.
Breathing at night can also affect whether you sleep soundly. Snoring, nasal congestion, mouth breathing, dry mouth upon waking, or breathing discomfort at night can be important clues for further understanding sleep continuity and physical condition.
Things left unresolved during the day often carry over into the night. Long-term stress, tension, emotional exhaustion, and irregular lifestyle can all affect the body's natural transition from a waking state to a sleeping state.

Chapter Two: Sleep and the Body

I can't sleep well. It's not necessarily only related to "sleep".

OPTIMA Understand sleep in the context of overall health. In addition to environment, diet, daily routine, and stress, we will also look for clues from the related manifestations of different bodily systems to gain further insights.

Respiratory system · SLEEP OBSERVATION
01
RESPIRATION · Nighttime Breathing

Respiratory system

The smoothness of breathing during sleep may affect the continuity and comfort of sleep throughout the night. Understanding nighttime breathing performance is one of the important directions for understanding sleep status.
Snoring, nasal congestion, mouth breathing, dry mouth upon waking, and nighttime breathing discomfort.
02
CIRCULATION · Body Rhythm

cardiovascular system

Sleep is an important period for the body to enter a state of rest and regulation. The body's sensations at night, daytime fatigue, and overall health status can serve as references for further understanding of sleep.
Nighttime discomfort, palpitations, morning fatigue, daytime fatigue, and disrupted sleep.
03
NERVOUS SYSTEM · Awake and Relaxed

Nervous system

To naturally transition from the waking state during the day to sleep at night, the body needs to gradually enter a relatively relaxed state. Long-term tension, active thoughts, and the pace of life may all contribute to this.
Difficulty falling asleep; restless thoughts; easily startled; vivid dreams; decreased daytime concentration.
04
GUT · Diet and Daily Status

Digestive system

Eating time, dietary content, digestive feelings, and daily routines are all daily factors that need attention in sleep management. There is also a complex bidirectional relationship between sleep and digestive health.
Eating dinner too late, gastrointestinal discomfort at night, irregular eating habits, feeling full before bed, and disrupted sleep patterns.
05
IMMUNE · Overall Physical Condition

immune system

Sleep is related to overall physical condition. When the body is uncomfortable, under-recovered, or when the rhythm of life is continuously unbalanced, the experience of sleep may also change accordingly.
Physical discomfort affects sleep; decreased sense of recovery; easy fatigue; restless sleep.
06
RHYTHM (Body Rhythms)

Endocrine system

Sleep is closely related to the body's circadian rhythms. Long-term irregular schedules, nighttime light exposure, stress, and changes in lifestyle can all affect the ability to fall asleep, wake during the night, and the state of waking in the morning.
Shifting sleep patterns, delayed bedtime, frequent awakenings at night, difficulty waking up in the morning, and unstable circadian rhythm.

Sleep is not an isolated problem. Rather, it is part of the overall state.

True sleep management is not about jumping to conclusions based on a single performance; rather, it involves understanding sleep, the body, the environment, and lifestyle together, and then gradually finding a management direction that suits oneself.
